That figured top is insane! Lots of character in that one. Those TV Trons are excellent pickups too.

As I just posted on BaM:
Thanks guys, this is definitely a special guitar.

I'm loving the TVTrons so far. They have a nice low end and plenty of punch, so that's mst of the battle right there. They are pretty low output for humbuckers though - comparable to the SCN single coils on my Strat. Therefore they don't push my amp as hard as say, my SCT, but I can kick in a little extra OD and everything is just right. I won't be able to completely judge them until I use them with the band, but so far so good. They're the nicest humbuckers for a clean tone I've ever heard.

The woods are Maple on Ash body, ebony on maple neck.
I also wanted the piezo and mag outputs to be independent - none of that stereo cable for me anymore. I never, ever play the piezo through the same amp as the mags, so I didn't need that. The black three way switch allows me to select the active output (mag/both/piezo).

This had to be the most interesting piece of figured maple I've ever seen. Not necessarily the most pronounced, but the wildest, at least. And trust me, it looks even better in person.

It's a work of art and if that sweet thing sounds anywhere like she looks, you may be in trouble ;)

I suspect it will sound an awful lot different in Dan's hands, but here's a short clip that I recorded with it in the hour or so that I had it in completed condition. It's a single passage repeated twice, first with the piezo and then with the neck pickup (a TV Jones TV'tron classic). I think it's an interesting contrast.

And thanks to all for the kind words. We don't use a lot of maple, but this piece really just jumped out at me as something very special. Between the color variations, the ring pattern and the almost random figure, I had never seen anything quite like it.

Very Classy! I especially like the binding on the sound hole...nice touch. Where can you get one of those?
