Alright....let's critique Yngwie ;)

Seems folks here relate to something more bluesy. So let's critique this solo from one of his lesser known albums.

Sounds like Yngwie to me. Not necessarily typical of his solos but recognizable, nonetheless. I like it, and I like the mix on this album more than his recent work.

In all seriousness, the guy has a very underrated vibrato, in my opinion. And its exemplified here pretty heavily. I like the solo a lot.

I have always loved this tune and solo. His rhythm tone is killer, and his touch and technique are killer. This harkens back to his stuff with Alcatrazz. I love when he plays in the context of a song. Of course, the instrumentals are unrivaled in intensity. One of my favorite guitarists.

He's a ridiculously skilled guitar player but his playing, tone, songs, production, artwork etc have never done anything for me. He makes for a very entertaining interview though. I greatly admire that sort of swagger and arrogance.

The best thing about Yngwie is he is always Yngwie. You can pick him out in virtually any context.

I love this solo. And while I do love Yngwie I am not afraid to critique some of us less than stellar works. This is a stellar one.

That said - I do like a lot of his instrumental/classical pieces.

I thought it was a good opportunity to throw a little back at the "he plays too many notes and has no feeling" people.

Fine playing. Great tone.

My only criticism might be that I can't remember the notes he played after the song is over; e.g. I couldn't mimic or hum what he did afterward. Other guitarists maybe don't play with as much precision and skill, but their music and melody stays in my head longer after the song is over.
