so i really dont like fancy guitars so i got my mexican strat and took out all the pickups and just put in one humbucker and one volume control. i know i dont get any tone out of this, but i really like just having one pickup.

so for my next guitar, i really want another strat cause im really comfortable with strats but want to upgrade to a higher strat. so am i crazy for wanting to get an american strat and taking out all the electronics and just putting in 1 pickup? i probably broke the biggest strat sin...

It seems like that was a pretty common thing to do in the 80's, so you're not crazy . . . just retro.

Strats are great things to do mods on. Enjoy yourself and play it loud.

I thought we were all crazy - man, woman and child (well children to a lesser extent)

This guy called Ed started doing that around 1977. You might have heard of him.

I'm pretty sure no Stratocaster comes from the factory that makes an owner 100% happy. I have honestly never met a Strat player who said, "Yep, this this is 100% bone stock." Seems like they're ALWAYS modified. I guess it's like anything else though. Out of all of my guitars, only 1 of them is bone stock and makes me happy that way, and coincidentally it cost me over $3000 so it better be effing good! :D
