been talking about amps for a while on here. today i tried out a blues jr (again) and it just seems to good to be true. how can an amp that is so cheap be so good? is there something fishy here?

it is not the price of the amp that matters, its what you can do with it

the Blues Jr is a great amp.

Do you like the blues jr better than all of the amps listed?

People over on the pedal/effects forum had a similar reaction way back with the DigiTech Bad Monkey - "cheap" compared with other boutique stuff but a winner nevertheless. :jo Then there's the Bill M. mod . . .

    You mean "to sound better"?

Don't know - a lot of folks have them modded for one reason or another (sounds like the topic of a new thread).

I have an old(1995) ragged tweed Pro Junior that I swear sounds as good as any Marshall I've ever played. Sound has never been the little Fender amp's problem, it was durability. I baby mine so I don't worry but the guy that had her before me definitely rode her hard. I had a Blues Junior that I used for small gigs but sold it. It also sounded very good.

The singer/guitarist in one of my bands uses one, and she loves it. It's her favorite amp ever. I like a little more muscle, but I have to concur that it's a sweet little thing, and I suppose if I found myself needing something really lightweight and simple I'd jump on one of these. It's like the Champ of this era.

Good to hear somebody likes them.
I never got on with them, personally.

A bit on the thin side, at least the ones I've tried are like that.
Best bang for buck amp to me has always been the Peavey Classic series.
Lotsa folks like the Roland Blues Cube amps too.

First time I tried a Blues Jr was in a music store room full of boutiques. I had some cash to burn and the salesman helped hook me up with all the usual suspects - and as an old vintage Fender amp guy, none of them really did that much for me.

Finally, the sales guy said, "close your eyes and play through this."

I shouted, "That's it!" and opened my eyes to see a Blues Jr.

Salesguy said, "I could get fired for this."

Though I often prefer amps with more headroom and bottom end, 10 years later I own two of them and believe the Blues Jr is one of the coolest, most expressive and dynamic amps Fender has ever built.
