So a friend of mine was just about to drop $500 for an analogman king of tone that he said he really couldnt afford when I told him to sign up and get on the list and he could get it for about 60% less. He didnt know you could order and get on the list. So I basically ruined a sale for a guy taking advantage of another musician for massive profit, which irritates the sh^t outta me, and saved a buddy a great amount of money. Was I wrong? I dont think so. The more I can stop a second hand KOT sale the happier I am to see the seller have to hold on to it even longer than they have.

How could you be wrong in giving your friend info that saved him money? IMO you couldn't. As for people selling items at hugely inflated prices, why get bent out of shape? If it's worth bypassing the long wait time for someone to get one now that's for them to judge. It's really up to the buyer to do the research. That couldn't be easier these days.

You seem to have a thing against KOT for some reason, but that's a separate issue. I don't think you were wrong to make your friend aware of a way he could save money...

You did the right thing for your buddy. IMO you didn't ruin anything for the other guy. Unfortunately the market is what it is for the KOT, supply and demand. That said, and though the wait can be painfully long for some people, I'd rather be on the list as I have twice and give Mike my money than give someone on the used market that much cash.

I have absolutely nothing against the KOT. I own one myself, I do have a thing for buying them only to use them for huge profit. I really wish that the buyers on the second hand market would refuse to pay those prices and stick it to the guys flipping them. Thats just my opinion.

Well now he won't be able to get a KOT in at least 2 years....

But tbh, it's supply and demand. With a wait list that long, you'll have to expect to pay more to skip the line, simple as that.

So, honestly, did you tell him how long the wait is, and if so, please disclose how long you told him.

In regards to people making a profit on anything, just stop it.

It's pain either way. You want extended, prolonged pain or short quick pain? Don't feel bad for the profiteer. If he makes no money off your friend, then he'll get it elsewhere from someone who isn't going to wait 2 years. I trust you told your friend the wait time when you persuaded him.

Yes I told him it's a long wait time. Up to 2 years. I got mine in about 11 months when I ordered mine. He basically doesnt care about the wait time he wants to save the $. His attitude was like mine. Sign up and keep on doing your thing till you're notified. Makes the wait go by faster .

    You did him a solid.
Did you also advise him he could likely get a POT now to sort of get a taste and see if it will work for him?
Not everyone needs the dual KOT.

You did him a huge favor. Now tell him to take the two years as an extreme opportunity to work on his chops so when that king of tone finally comes in and the enormous holy grail tone upgrade hits his rig, he’ll be able to take full advantage of it.

I would have gone one further and told him to just buy a prince of tone or a pantheon.

I think you did the right thing. I would have done the same and hope a buddy would do it for me too.
