    Sorry, last one.

I was looking for a pre-amp to help make a bass guitar sing.
It is for heavy music and i want the bass to be slightly gritty. I wanted a brick but you cant get them new anymore and i am struggling to find them on the Bay. Are there any alternatives to the brick that will really drive through those bassy sounds? If i can find one that works nicely with a bass and kick drum that would be sick!

I am aware its all preference but any help will be very much appreciated.

I personally love the Avalon U5 for bass guitar. No grit, just thunderous authority on the low end.

Another possibility might be the Retrospec Juicebox, if you can find one. I'm not sure if they are still in production.

Not sure of price in Pounds Sterling, but the Eclair Engineering Evil Twin rocks for your purposes in a recording studio and, presumably, would work well in a live environment. They are tough to find used, though...

    Best,

A Designs EM Silver, Avedis MA5, BAE 312A, Groove Tubes MP1, UA 610, all good choices.

I realy like the ART square black box thingie - try one, they're almost free, used.

Also, the Sansamp Bassdriver might be just what you're looking for.

Yeah this is great for bass and its 1799.00 US.

I don't know what your exchange rate currently is but it always seems like the pound makes us look like the Peso... right?
