Amp Shows

Howdy,

This might be an odd question, but how do amp/gear shows work? I have seen them on the coasts, but never here in CO. I am thinking about trying to organize one, but the cost of facility rental is a bit staggering. Do vendors usually pay, or is it funded from attendance sales? Just curious if you have ever been to one and have some insight into how to recoup the facility costs.

Thanks in advance.

Vendors pay for space and sometimes tickets are sold too. I doubt that right now would be the best time to hold one, as the market seems to be a little on the soft side. Viagra anyone?

Have there been any amp/tone fests in your area?

I'd try organizing an amp fest first, with attendees bringing their own unique gear. Attendees will often bring a good selection of unique gear for everyone to try out, and either attendees usually scout out inexpensive locations (community centers, churches, etc). Sometimes local dealers and manufacturers attend as well.

It will certainly let you know the feasibility of creating a bigger event, and what kind of audience there is for it in your area.

I'm interested in seeing a Colorado get together happen--a gear shootout or something like that. I had PM'ed Brian Scherzer last week and he forwarded me the contact info for the guy who hosted the last get togethers. I was going to contact him this week and see if he's interested in doing it again. It's not a trade show--but it may fill the need for what you are asking about..... If you are really wanting to go the trade show route, then PM me and let's talk more in depth about what that entails. I can give you information based on unrelated shows our company has exhibited at in the past.

Thanks. Our last TGP get together was last spring, and LastNever hosted it. He has since moved to CA. The turnout was a bit small, but a bunch of good guys showed up. Gary from Guitarx came and Randy from Mission amps also attended. I would like to try and find a larger venue as well as getting more dealers involved. A community center might be the way to go, but they are still $300-$500. The community would have to kick in some cash?

PM me, I am would like to put one on in the spring again.
