I never noticed it before. My Fargen Micro Plex is making a very low hum. With nothing plugged in and the volume all the way down - a hum. Is there something going on here or is it normal?

    Thanks,
    Pete

Shouldn't hum. Talk to Ben about it.

Wow!!! All I can say is Ben Fargen is absolutely the BEST. I emailed him tonight and got an answer back within 30 minutes!!!

He says it's "pretty standard for single ended class A amps to have a tiny bit of hum" and that as the power tubes get old "they can start to produce more 60 cycle hum as well". I'm thinking maybe it's time for some new tubes (I've never changed them).

I love the Fargen Micro Plex (so much that I'm getting a Townhouse 5w too!) and Ben is a great guy who really backs his work!!! :aok
