I'm finding beat one is registered on the downward movement of the switch and the second beat upon the lifting of the foot.

Is that your experience as well?
It's an odd way to do it but I suppose it's easy enough to get used to.

Not my experience, but not saying you're wrong.
I just step on it in time and its close enough for me so I've never had a thought about scrutinizing it.
I did set it for 8ths.
I leave it on all the time...that way I can step on it rapidly and it seems to disappear.

    OK...I scrutinized it. :D
Doesn't seem to work like you described.
Tempo is only set with downward movements as far as I can tell.
I can't get a tempo set by just pushing down and letting up.
I do get one by down up down...and it doesn't matter when let it up, it only registers the downs.

Something definitely weird with mine. Now the tap tempo doesn't respond and the editor won't connect.
I'll dig in later. Computers suck. I sure don't want to send it back for repair right now it sounds so damn good!

There is a known tap tempo bug with the editor. A fix is in progress. More news to follow later.

I haven't tried the tap tempo, and so far, everything I do with the editor works exactly as I expect it should (on w Windows 7 desktop). I do wish that a when the AmpliFire and editor are connected, that a change in one would be reflected in the other.

    Thanks for the update, Tom.

As Tom stated, be sure to change the footswitch you have assigned to "tap tempo" to something like "Effect" and THEN connect to Editor. Ran into the same issue, but works like a champ now. You can always unhook the AmpliFIRE from the Editor and then change the footswitch back to tap tempo.

Went into the setting via the pedal while the editor was not booted up. Changed everything back to normal...no tap tempo etc. and the editor booted right up and started playing nice (well, I'm assuming it is still its same old buggy self)...but all things considered, all is well.

    thanks!

Same thing here. It was the first time the editor window loaded up all the unit's preset names and allowed me to backup everything without issue. Good to hear!
