Hope you guys dig! What an amp! Sounded just great. It's not mine, it belongs to my buddy Toshi Yanagi.

I try and make a point in the vid- that many times, the old school method of turning the amp up a ways, til it sounds just great and then rolling down the guitar for clean tones is a better way to go than running the amp on 1 with the guitar up full all the time.

Sounds fantastic! I've always loved that tune. I futz around with it myself. Somehow, you make everything sound better though. Totally agree with a minimum volume to sound the best on stage. My Germino Club 40 is a beast, but I've been trying to crank it a bit and use the volume controls more on my guitar at gigs. Our drummer is a basher so he really doesn't notice much. Thanks for the video!

    I agree mate.
Not enough players let their amp breathe and use the volume control on their guitar.
It forces you to be mindful and present about what you're doing and to be aware of volume on stage.
Add an old Tubescreamer or a Rat and this dynamic detail becomes magnified - it's incredible what you can do with an open amp and some sensitivity!
I agree - a juicy 40w amp is the perfect stage volume in terms of compression and saturation.
    Thanks for posting this video.

One of my holy grail amps played brilliantly! It took me at least 15 years to realize my guitar even had volume knob. I can’t swear to it, but I might even have been influenced by one of your earlier, excellent videos on this same subject.

For years, I was the guy with the guitar always dimed, setting the amp clean and using pedals for drive and constantly wondering why it never sounded as good as I hoped.

Learning to roll back my guitar and “then” setting the amp on the edge of breakup and riding the volume knob was a real breakthrough for me.

My tone wasn’t “bad” before, but it’s much better now. Dirt pedals aren’t nearly as necessary now that I have an inkling of how to “play the amp.”

Anyway, thanks for all the great videos. You’re definitely one of my favorite YouTube guitar badasses!

Wow, great tone, great touch, great amp. Somehow I think you’d sound great through a gorilla amp though.

Watched it earlier tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it, Pete. LOVED hearing your rendition of Lenny, too. Thanks for the vids, I've been subscribed for a while now, and look forward to anything new you put out there.

Would love to hear that Kelley IN THE ZONE.

Yep, best amp ever made for me.
40 watts perfect for a club, beautiful clean to scream with your volume knob.
    Great playing and demo Pete.

Yes!!! Love the Super - love Pete's playing and demos as well. I owned three different Super's at various times. One blackface, one silver, and one reissue. All of that was before I really appreciated just how much I love them. I eventually gave up owning one because of the weight and extreme volume for anything other than playing out. Now that I'm finally living in a detached house for the the first time in my life, and I'll be building a somewhat soundproofed studio space for myself, I really am thinking about getting another one. I've also recently acquired a UA Ox so the idea of running a Super through the attenuator at 4ohm's also intrigues me. Now I just need to find money for another blackface that sounds decent...
