What options do I have...in solely looking for options and ideas. I'll probably end up getting an AC30 and using a BOR or BB preamp or something; but I just wanted to see what else was out there.

I did a TGP search and found results such as "Vox chime with Marshall Drive", but I don't exactly think that's what I'm looking for. I love the Vox clean but at times I get tired of the harshness here and there. So maybe just an opportunity to get the Vox clean chime, but also the option to warm it up a bit.

Essentially what the Z Maz's do for Fender and Marshall...

    Lemme know what ya got!!

You might look at a Laney VC30. It seems to be a bit of both. For the record I own one and I own an AC30CC2.

Snider has some of that. It is its own thing, but certainly covers those bases, on the hotter side of Vox with the knock of a hot Marshall. Talking about the closed back 1x12 combos.

I always thought the Budda Superdrive 18 and 30 kinda fit that bill.

Mesa Transatlantic TA-15/30. The drive channels are Marshall-ish, but it really does the Vox thing well.

The 12ax7 side of the 65 Amps London gets in that zone, and loves a BB Pre to take it up several notches.

Suhr Badger has been described as a cross between Marshall and Vox, has its own thing obviously but worth a look.

I have the SD18 and all i have ever heard is the vox/marshall comparison. It is a legit description.

I am thinking about selling it, though, because I'm not sure it's what I want out of my sound anymore. Killer amp, though.

I use a GOODSELL Super 17 mk2 and it's in that neighborhood. The great thing about it is that you can just hit the front end hard with a pedal or two to push it from Voxy chime to Marshall drive. I use an EP Boost, Dr. Sci RRR and lately a Mojo Hand Mule in various combinations. Loving it.
