essentialise.,
from 2001.

it's a terribly saturated/distorto mix, but.....
i never finished the 3rd splattercell release.
thought it might tickle someone's innards, though.

unwitting vocals are by sogyal rinpoché.

NB, my usual warning:
if you listen on laptop speakers, you won't hear the "tune".

¿enjoy?

Very nice Dave! Somehow, I can feel things in this piece that I get when listening to Matte. Cool mixing.

No laptop, but Shure SE530 in ears..... Should suffice, I think.

I'll try and find you at NAMM to say hi.

thanks, s.
it's fair to say that my influence on matte has escaped neither of us;
i have huge respect for matte that he could find a path that mines his vast talent & skills,
his remarkable absorptive & insightful qualities, his work-ethic & dedication
to arrive so clearly at his very own voice:
that's a tough & rare nut to crack, really..... really.

Cool mixing.
ha!
honestly: the "mixing" is one of the reasons why i didn't release this tune;
it was one of the spin-offs, musical detritus from the splattercell discs of 1999-2000.
you have that primary splattercell disc, dude, i hope?
splattercell ::: oah ???
i still respect that thing, myself.

yeah, thanks! since low-end is important to my "sound"
--- even moreso in an overly saturated mess like this is ---
i feel that i've always gotta make that disclaimer on the 'net, these days.

I'll try and find you at NAMM to say hi.
cool! see ya there!
but, are you gonna be at the "sabian" gig?,
'cuz i don't think i'll be on the floor much, if at all.....
..... working like a dog, right now (& then, still),
on more than one film-score..... each with their own nasty deadlines.
akkk!

ha! relaxing, vintage, sour torn, right?
;)
thanks, anders --- glad you dig it!

How did you do these things, is it only done in the computer?
sorta, maybe, mostly, yeah.....

the guitar part was performed, then sliced post-facto.
(yes, there is an electric guitar in there.....)
the keyboard part was performed, from within the computer, on a patch i'd written in Reaktor3.
the bass was performed on my (then) Nord Lead 2.
drums came from a Korg Electribe (sampling drum-machine) that i performed/recorded into the Mac, then manually sliced & diced in (the then-called) LogicAudio.
Rinpoché's parts were sampled from one of his lecture-tapes;
they were carefully placed, after the keys, bass'n'drums were recorded.
at the ending/outro,
the entire mix was re-recorded into the prototype of the Electrix Repeater v1.01;
i then performed/recorded its "slowing down to digital destruction" as a "punch-in" repacement, as the tune was playing back.
frankly, i'm a bit shocked that i can remember the process, at all!
thankfully, it was a simple process, ie: w/minimal parts.

wow, a nice track....
even sounded good on my 'puter-i'msure the bass was lacking, but best i could do.
love the crazy drums!!!
and the great sounds at the end...
is this a teaser for splattercell III???? that would be most cool 2 look fwd to (or even followup to "prezens"? that would be equally cool....oh well....)
that was a nice sunday afternoon listen....

"still thinking.....
still undecided."

isn't that about 90% of the creative battle anyways....

with a "major" project like this, in the middle of this (kinda crazy) hollywood-work that i'm doing?
oh, yeah:
i know that this first decision
--- direction, in utterly interdependent tandem w/concept ---
often mean waaaaaay much, to me.
the initial, primary step, in fact.....
i'm close, though!, so.
and, i feel very fortunate to have manfred's full creative support, again;
i think that remains kinda rare.

Cool tune! It continued to play in my head after it ended, which is always fun...especially when I go listen again and realize how my brain took it in it's own direction.

Keep 'em coming.
