I think he means, like, in a song or something.

I could be wrong, though.

ah, good, he said "Leslie simulator"

so, can I nominate Andrew Bird and that giant rotary pitcher-plant of his?

IDK about "awards", but you can hear the H&K Rotosphere very well on Arc Angels "See What Tomorrow Brings"... (slow speed)

There's some stuff on The Yellow Princess where John Fahey uses a Leslie on acoustic. It's awesome.

Dot Allison--Tomorrow Never Comes, from Afterglow, 1999

I read in a magazine article back then that the guitarist (not Kevin Shields, though he was on the album) used a sim from from one of the pre-MM4 Line 6 products--certainly sounds better to me than the sim on the MM4. I don't know about best, don't even know 100% if it's true, but hearing this and reading it was a sim is what set me off on a long trek looking for Leslie sims.

I'm pretty sure Charlie Hunter used a Tube Rotosphere on some of his early recordings. Here is a cut from one of those (the bass is Charlie's 8 string, and the "organ" is also Charlie's 8 string).

I guess Leslie doesn't mean Leslie? I took it to mean Leslie OR rotary cab simulator, not ONLY a simulator. ;)

Yeah, I meant "OR". Not a big deal though.

Real Leslie, rotary cabinet simulator, vibrato, vibe, rotary chorus.

Whatever makes you spin around. Doesn't really matter.

(Nice Dot Allison track. Very pretty.

And, yeah, Hunter played with a Rotosphere for a long while. Doesn't play in that style anymore though.)

When I was a kid, my dad's friend played a B3 through a real Leslie.

I respectfully decline to comment any further.

Hendrix did actually use a leslie though. It's all over Electric Ladyland and you can hear it on one of the rhythm tracks under the solo of Little Wing very clearly.

Warren Haynes' live use of a tube H&K Rotosphere is something I love.

The Beatles used a Fender/Leslie Vibratone on a ton of guitar parts. Clapton's use of it on While My Guitar Gently Weeps (to make it sound "more Beatle-y) is my favorite use of a rotating speaker ever.
