I like to hear your impressions of the Anderson Cobra S.What are they all about.?How do they sound{different from a Fender} Do you have one or have you played one.Whats a fair price for a used Cobra S? Thank you.

The cobra s sounds nothing like a strat...it's a very thick, rich tone. Very warm as well, and that's not bashing strats...I have several and like that tone for what it is as well.

Price wise, I'd say $1,800 and up, though I've seen a couple for $1,600

True.. though I've heard from a few players that Cobras have some of the best sound slip coil sounds in the market...
Would you say so?

I have a Cobra (Tele body shape) with a pull pot to split the coils. Goose up the treble, add some compression, and split the coils - it sounds surprisingly close to a Tele. With both coils running - fairly close to a Les Paul sound.

They are great guitars. Nice in between straty tones, great fat humbucker tones. They play like a dream too.

i've had a Cobra with humbuckers. The best feature in my opinion is the extreme good playability and resonance of TA guitars. I was not a big fan of the HB sound, altough is was obvious that it did have quality sounds on board, just not my cup of tea.

Tried out a cobra with humbuckers. Not my cup of tea either. Did not have the warm humbucker sound and did not have that single coil chime. I passed on it.

I think of it as more in the Les Paul Special camp, especially the P 90 eqipped Cobras

The Cobra loaded with an H2+ certainly has warm humbucker tones. a Cobra i played with an Ho1 pickup was a bit brighter.

They don't sound like LP's but they're pretty versatile. I could see doing an entire gig with one instead of switching off a LP for s Strat. The Cobra won't exactly sound like either, but it gets close enough for anyone in your audience not to know.
