    Hi all
I always thought Andy Powell's (of Wishbone Ash) tone is unique.
Apart from his superb melodic lines and his style, the sounds he gets especially on "Argus" and "Wishbone Four" albums, were i.m.o. amongst the best I've ever heard.

Does anyone know what kind of amp(s) and fx he used in these two albums?
Any info will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

I think he used Orange Matamps as well as Hiwatts early on.
But there's also a few clips of him playing through Ampeg combos, sounding great !

    Thanks for the info Cussion.
I wonder though what else beyond his Flying V and amp he used to use in order to produce those wonderfully peculiar guitar tones !

I saw them in Buffalo a couple of years ago and he was using 2 Fenders. He played the V but also played what looked like a Music Man.......

I think I read somewhere that he sometimes used a Colorsound Power Boost pedal.. or an Orange Treble & Bass Booster. Don't remember which one.

I share your love for Powell's tone -- on those two albums it certainly is among the most unique and sweet in all rock.

I recall looking at his site a year or two ago and was sort of surprised to learn he was using a Boogie Mark I Reissue. At least, to the best of my recollection that's what I recall.

You might want to check his website for that info; he seems to know what a good medium it is in keeping Wishbone Ash's vision and artistry alive
