Just saw the Police tonight a greatttttttttt show Best concert I have ever been too.

Andy Summers was switching between a red strat and his tele deluxe. Does anyone know what the specs are on the strat?

Strangely I was bored to tears!
But I could tell the Red Strat was a Custom Shop piece as I could see the logo on the back of the headstock.

Some sources say it's a '63...some say it's a '61.

He also plays a VG strat.....( black one with maple fingerboard )

The Telecaster he's playing on this tour is not his original '61. It is one of three identical relic'd reproductions that Fender made for him. He took all three on the road with him for the Police reunion tour. He said in Guitar Player magazine that his '61 is just too valuable to take on the road and that he was very pleased with the relic'd models. This leads me to speculate that the red Strat he's playing might be a repro as well and not his '63.

LOL me too, i could see it on the back of his guitar as well.

Its got a RW board and a early 60's kinda headstock logo so my gues would be a Custom Shop Relic 59-63

I'm certain I read somewhere that Fender made him a repro of his old red strat aswell as the tele custom....or were going to.

I say it was not boring. I am in Japan, and they put on a greatttttttt show. He is a very good guitar player

Andys original red strat has a piece of the pickguard tip on the lower horn missing, thats how to spot the original, the one he uses on the tour is a new custom shop model.
