Jobim is a deity to me.
Greatest songwriter of my life-time AFAIC.
BTW, on this vid, I am more impressed w/ the Bossa player's rhythm. He nails it & that's not easy.
It's refreshing to see someone on a Strat play a melodic lead though.
Andy went to the University of Miami and is a big fusion fan and admirer of players like Mike Stern. I've heard him play some changes in the past too.
Nice stuff! As usual. And on a Strat, no less, set on the bridge a considerable amount of time. Easy listening.
That was great. Love how he used the bar.
Fantastic player; check out his Sargent Pepper album.
Surprised to see him playing a Strat. That is the guitar he should stick to. That is a beauty!
He's a master, and the entire bossa album is great!
Best use of the bar since Jeff Beck, imo.
Beautiful take! Andy is a legend.
Andy did an entire Bossa album?
Oh man ... So many great songs on there ...
Though it must be an import at $24 ..
Amen to that
Andy is the man. Been my player of the moment for going on 4 years. I agree with whoever said he was channeling a little Beck in the video. Thanks for posting.
That's for the CD and DVD. You can download just the album at itunes.
Sounded great! Really like his strat tone.
Like I mentioned, Andy is interested in jazz and fusion. He's a big Stern fan as you can hear in the cover here and studied standards at U Miami. He also mentions Mike explicitly in the last video as his inspiration:
Cool idea. He plays the head in harmonics in Bm, then blows on it in the standard key, then they go back to playing the head in Bm.
Love Andy and Mimi playing together. Would love to see them playing together in a club.
