MXR Dookie Drive. It’s a modded plexi type tone and it sounds killer with my Twin Reverb. It can definitely do Angus. I’ve always thought the guitar tone on Dookie sounded like a gainier AC/DC tone anyway.

I have a Carl Martin Plexitone single as well but it doesn’t jive very well with the Twin.

Agree, 100%.....and stock TS types seem to have a clean signal just underneath fizzy high end pedal distortion. I have a Wampler modded SD-1 that actually sounds pretty good with the gain low into a clean amp.

That said, big iron, moving air and the aggressive style of Young is a big part of it. The one true thing about AC/DC tone is that it's very unforgiving.

my Distortron did not get me to Angus.
Too gainy even on low gain. Sounds more like Eddie v Halen to me.

Instead i now use a Way Huge Pork Loin w my brown- and blackface Fenders.
Pretty Marshally sounding to me and you can truely dial in the grit in a good way..

I do it with the Archer Ikon stacked in to the OCD with the gain at about 10'o clock

Hmm. I use that setting as my CLEAN setting, using dynamics to clean up. I love VH but I don't play anything close to that. I don't know what else you've got going on but if you've set a Distortron to half thru a clean amp it's not going to sound like Van Halen. If it does yours is broken.

Most people know that removing the cover voids the warranty.
    Now you know why.

I play through Marshall amps. But the SD does wonderful things to the amps sounds.

The Rockett.45 Caliber into a blackface deluxe clone, with an SG, does an excellent Angus tone.
