This is from the same gig that I posted from a week or so ago where we covered Kashmir. This was with another one of the guest singers doing Take Another Little Piece Of My Heart. Fun gig and really happy with the way Helix/Variax came through. It makes gigs like this so easy :)

Helix was running straight into front of house with no amp on stage.

    Doin a little dancin' there aren't cha?:D

That's a great tone too. The singer gal
got an interesting style - with a little bit
of lessons she could really deliver.

Maybe I should give the Variax another chance. The one I tried had a the palm mute plink and for my 80s big hair cover band I used that technique often so I had to send it back to Sweetwater who were great about the return. You guys are awesome!

I don't get out and play as much as I used to, so when I do I like to have a good time :p

Thanks! I'm very happy with the Helix/Variax combo to put it mildly.

The girl singing was a guest singer that sat in with us on that gig. We only got the chance to rehearse with her once and I don't know how much Joplin she's done before. She's more of a singer songwriter type of artist. So to be fair to her this was probably a little bit outside of her wheelhouse. I agree though, with some work it could be awesome. She's got a BIG voice for someone as tiny as she is :)

    Thanks man!

I've been using Variax guitars for 10 years now and I will say that issue has gotten much better on the JTV's. It would probably be worth checking out the JTV89/89F since those are more geared as a shred style guitar. I've played one and it's a nice instrument.

Some people are completely happy with the palm muting now and some still take issue with it. You'd probably just have to try one with your setup to see how it works out. They are SO versatile though they will completely spoil you :)
