Did another open mic night with Helix and Variax and it was a lot of fun. I'm soooo in love with this setup [IMG]

Keep in mind that this is the camera mic that's picking up the audio, the guy filming was sitting where he was getting some monitor bleed (which were overly bright), and it was the house PA with no time to adjust for EQ.

I say all that because sometimes I've had folks pick apart the tone on some of these videos. This isn't a studio recording so take it for what it is.

The monitors were actually so bright I had to double check to make sure the wah wasn't on and in the toe position. But it's just plug and play with no time to ask for any adjustments.

    Hope you enjoy!

BTW, I did a soundcloud recording of the practice session for this performance direct via USB. So if anyone wants to nit pick tone that can be done here :)

Good work! tone was good too. I would have just added a splash of reverb but very nice!

Thanks! I have a little bit of verb on there, but could always dial it up a little :)

Good tone, but needed more verb.

Sounds GREAT. I'd love to see that patch too.

What are you using for backing tracks?

Watched at lunch yesterday - it was another great job that brought the house down! Great tone and feel to one of my favorite songs. Please share the next open mic video too :).

Thanks man! The patch can be found here: http://line6.com/customtone/tone/1964822/

For the backing track I was lucky enough to find a decent one here: http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/play/led_zeppelin/since_ive_been_loving_you_(3).htm

I just edited it in Ableton Live to get it to the length and arrangement that I was looking for. I used a Digitech Jamman Stereo for playing back backing tracks.

You wouldn't regret it if you got one :)

My "real" guitars are an '02 Les Paul Standard and an SRV Strat I've had over 20 years. Neither of which I'll ever part with.

But since getting the JTV line of Variax I haven't taken either one of them to a gig in years. Being able to so quickly jump to different guitar sounds, plus realistic acoustic, plus alternate tunings, it's just a no brainer for me. The Variax is just such a versatile tool that I never have a reason not to use it. It covers every base I need it to.

I have a JTV59 and a JTV69. Couldn't decide if I wanted to go "Les Paul" or "Strat" I guess :) Plus I found a great deal on the 69 shortly after buying the 59.

I love them both, but the addition of the 5 way switch and the trem bar keep me playing the 69 almost all the time.

If you have any Variax related questions feel free to send them my way.

Thanks so much for checking it out! I'll be sure to post more. The guy who films there and who's channel the videos are posted on usually released something every few days.

I did 3 songs that night and at least 2 of them will get posted for sure.

If you notice at 4:50 in this video I break a 1st string. I put a new one on and stretched it best I could, while doing it as quickly as possible, but through the 2nd song I was fighting to keep that string in tune. I haven't gotten the chance to listen back to it yet, but if it's rough I'm going to request that he not post that song :)

I'll be sure to share when he posts.

    Thanks again!

Also thanks for sharing that backing track site. They have a link to customize the tracks that is pretty slick. I play some gigs with just me on guitar and my son on drums and its been so hard to find tracks with bass and backing instruments only. Been having to record my own and it's pretty time consuming.
