I know, I know, go play them and see what I like. However, in my case, I only need to meet the following criteria:

Loud enough to practice with a band (like, 30 watts?)
A cabinet emulator in the line-out
    Inexpensive (if possible)

Don't care if it's a bass or guitar amp. I'll be doing all the effects with a pedalboard.

    Mucho mahalo.

What kind of music do you play? Being that you are using pedals for your tones I would recommend a used Peavey Delta Blues, Classic 30, or Fender HRD. For awesome speaker emulation on the cheap, pick up a Palmer PDI-09 and just mount it into the inside of your combo. Simple, easy, effective, sounds killer, and all for under $500.

I agree with the 3 smps noted above. For a cheap pedal amp can't beat the fender hot rod.

Egnator Tweaker 40 should cover all bases for you. They come in both combos or heads. I'm jonesing for a 15 watter myself...

Can most guitar amps handle a bass or are they engineered to not handle low frequencies as well?
