Any details on Claptons Tele w/Strat neck during his Blind Faith days?

What year was the Tele body and Strat neck? Any other mods to that guitar? It sounds so great on the Live at Hyde Park DVD IMO!

I was just watching that DVD yesterday. I wish they stayed together longer, and he used that guitar more. I can't help you at all, but I agree, I love that concert and that guitar.

first post here. good time to jump in. Blind Faith is my favorite.

The neck he used is from Brownie. (The '56 sunburst Strat made famous on the Layla record a year later.)

The body is from an early 60's Telecaster Custom. He had the Tele when he was with Cream, though it had a rosewood fretboard Stratocaster neck at that time. You can see pictures of him in Cream from early '68 with the Tele.

I used to own a Fender CS Mark Kendrick Masterbuilt version of this Blind Faith Tele. I should never have let that one go.

Ah, doing a search now shows Fender made these to '72. Any years to avoid or are they all potentially good?

What's the difference between a Tele neck and Strat neck?

The main difference is around the neck joint - you'll have a round gap but I can't remember whether that is with a Tele neck on a Strat body or vice versa.
Of course that doesn't take it into account the various neck profiles on both Strat and Teles over the years....

Best, Pete.

Strat = round heel, Tele = square heel. You can use a Strat neck in a Tele pocket, but the corners will show unless you make a custom pickguard for a 21 fret'er, or use a 22 fret neck.
