I'd in Dallas and would love to know too. The FTR is one I'd like to do a side by side comparison to my Pritchard amp more than any other amp.

I'd also like to try the Pritchard and maybe other amps through the /13 cabinet to see if the 2x12 combo of Celestion Blue + G12H30 really is the holiest grail of speaker tone that some claim. (Curious if an Eminence Red Fand + Wizard combo could match that tone too.)

:) FTR is the one I'm kinda leaning towards too....but any div 13 would be great.

In my book the 37 is the one to try. It has a great Fender black face clean vibe, along with old school Marshall Plexi crunch.

The 33 doesn't have quite the gain a 37 has either. The cleans are cleaner and the crunch is huge on a 37 at volume... but remember I said "at volume".

These are not bedroom amps. IMO, the 13's are live band amps that thrive at stage levels. They show there strength in a mix.

That said... where the good stuff is, they are still a little on the loud side. Plan on an attenuator.

Hey Colt,
If I remember correctly you were looking for a Komet 60.
Did you ever get one, or has the lust moved on to a Divided by 13?

haha, everyone always tries to pin me down to one amp. I LOOOVVEEE K60's. I've been hearing soooo much about these Div13, and soo readily available on here. AND I like how they're not as loud as a K60. and the Fender clean and marshall dirty on the FTr (the one I'm interested int), and the verb.

Can't I like both!?

haha

Hey Colt, not trying to pin you down.
I just remember your comments stating that your next amp was definitely a Komet 60.

Have you actually played a Komet 60?
To my ears there really isn't much difference in the volume of the FTR 37 and the Komet 60.
They both can get really loud, and to sound best they need to be pushed a bit in order to give up the good stuff.

The FTR 37 and Komet 60 are two of my favorite amps.
I think the 37 is a bit more flexible, but both are superior amps...

Yes, I played a Komet 60 head and a Div13 FTR 37 just yesterday.

Sadly, neither one was at my house ...

Colt,

I just bought an FRT 37. I'll be able to compare it to my Komet 60 by the end of the week. I'll let you know what I find. I like the "big Deluxe Reverb" vibe of the FRT and I hope the volume is close to the Komet, just a tad less. I play loud too but I do attenuate my Bruno Super 100s, they have some serious huevos. I put some Celestion Heritage G12H30s in my Germino cab and it just sounds great with the Komet.

I used to live in DFW, too bad not anymore, you could come over and check out the amps.

Sweet, Thanks guys.

Distortion- Pretty much everyone is getting the 2x12 w/ one blue and one 12h30 (my fav speaker), ....I've only seen one person with a 4x12...and that is you. And you're the only guy that really loves 4x12s on here (like me!!!) AND you own both the div13 2x12 AND 4x12...good lord man... How does the FTR react diff to both? (besides the obvious). is the 2x12 w/ mix match speakers really the way to go with FTRs? I mean, even the touring guys are using just the 2x12 (Jason Orme....GREAT sound....) Does it have enough balls w/ the 2x12? discuss....heheh :)

The D13 212 is tuned and matched for the 37. When I first got my head I was running a Marshall 412. Then I got the 13 212 later and it really got huge 3D.

I tested a bit, and now run a Scumback SA12H55 and a Blue in mine and love it. It's cool to be able to run just one speaker at a time also if you need to knock off a little more volume.

I don't miss a 412 at all, and the D13 cab is pretty light to grab and go. (The FTR head is heavier than the cab with 2 speakers in it).

IMO To get all the magic that is in these, you need one of Fred's cabs to match.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. 2x12 for the FTR vintage marshall 4x12 for the komet :)

Kiwi, you're not fruit, you're the man!!! Thanks buddy!!! :dude

to anyone that has a FTR37 in the area: Wilder (Chris Wilder) also wants to see a FTR37 (and ERT33..RSA's etc. etc.) and said he'd throw up any of his amps and/or cabs for bait. So if you wanna check out (help me out here chris) a 71 superlead, 73 super bass, almost any blackface fender, mid 70's marshall w/ g12m's, a mid 70's marshall w/ g12h's, two cool 800's (one vert. input 2x12 combo, one head), clark tweed amp, hmmm.....maybe some other stuff, that's all I can really remember. a few cabs (blackface fender, marshall bluesbreak style but not sure who by).
he has alot of really cool gear/guitars/whatever that you might wanna check out. It can be like our own little tonefest :) hooya

Hey guys...I'll jump in here and suggest we gather in DFW for a tonefest of Komet and D13...I know there are forum members based in DFW that can contribute w/ Komet 60 and Constellation and FTR 37 with a variety of cabs 2x12, 4x12, etc..
There is a forum member in DFW who I know would support this effort and can provide a good space for the gathering and serve as the designated demo player cause he's got the chops. I'll check with him and see what potential dates might work. Stay tuned...

As expected and cause he's just that nice a guy...

BrianH has agreed to support this "tonefest" gathering to provide us a forum to hear these amps and others of interest and will target September timeframe...so stay tuned on details as they develop...

thanks to BrianH for all the "enablement" you do for us gear geeks in DFW and abroad...
