any experience with the Yamaha CPX "Compass" series ?

    not that I need another GTR but . . . found a couple of these and they look like perfect stage guitars

    the newer x00-series have the same ART pickups as the more popular A-series instruments
    the 15 model above is made at the original Yamaha facility in Japan

    I have the CPX500III. I bought it as a backup and a travel guitar. It plays nice and sounds ok unplugged, but would work better plugged in.

    I just played one from that range when I was shopping yesterday. Great quality. Felt like an instrument twice the price. didn't really have my kind of sound though, I found it a little light/scooped and very taylory. I prefer thumpier, rootsier sounding guitars but it's great for that sparkly modern sound

    are you referring here to it's sound plugged or un-plugged ?
