a buddy has a sweetspot with a 12" tone tubby in it and it is one of the best sounding amps i have ever heard. I know most of the allens are hotrodded fenders, but not much talk here about them. his is basically a hotrod princeton reverb.

I just ordered an Accomplice in a Blues Jr. cab. I'll let you know what I think on Tuesday.

Allen Amps haven't quite gotten the stellar air time that many other builders have here on TGP, but David Allen has a lot of love and respect here and throughout the amp community. And he builds great amps.

Been gigging my Hot Fudge w/Nuts almost a year and a half now. I'd be hard-pressed to find a better amp for the money.
I'm sure there are builders as competent and as nice as David, but none more competent or nicer.
If Brick reads this I bet he'll chime in...he just got a Hot Fudge.

They are highly regarded on the Fender Discussion Page.

If I wanted a Blackface Amp, David would be the guy I'd go to.

I have an Accomlplice........very nice amp for BF Fender clean chimy tones or rippin' it up overdriven lead tones (Raw control dialed up).

I just sold a Brown Sugar here on the Gearpage. Very nice amp. Only sold it to crawl out of debt. Would love to have another someday. Maybe an Encore next time.

I built an Old Flame head kit which went very smoothly. I'm still experimenting with speakers but the tone is good. Have not gigged with it but I live alone in my own house and can crank it. Even though it has a MV, it sounds best with the master on dimed and the volume between 9 and 12 o'clock. If Allen made a Twin Reverb kit, i'd be all over it.

    I had an old flame.
    What a beautiful sounding amp.
I hope to get another Allen by years end.

Although, I noticed the price has gone up by $100 on all models.

You guys are making me excited! Anyway, the guy who used it before had it biased for 6l6 tubes, so assuming I know NOTHING about biasing (which I don't) how would I bias it for the 6v6 TungSols he sent along with it at my request?

has replaced various blackface Fenders for me. More flexible, more dynamic range, musical master volume and raw control and that 3 knob reverb. The same blackface cosmetics.

I've been very curious about the sweet spot since I understand it is (loosely) based on the princeton reverb. Anyone have clips?

Personally I've always been interested in the Encore, but never read much about it here on TGP. Anyone have one? How close to a BF/SF Vibrolux?

The guy does AWESOME mods on Bassman amps. I've never owned any of his amps, but the guy does know TONE. Here are my Bassman heads and 3 have the Allen mods plus the switchable Ohms 4 to 8. These heads are very versitile tone monsters now.

I've go to a local jam that regularly features Allen amps on stage. Always GREAT tone live. I've played through an Old Flame and Hot Fudge with Nuts. I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a Hot Fudge. I emailed David with a question, and he responded within the hour!

I am totally sold on these amps. The tone and quality are there.

what exactly is the hot fudge w/ nuts? is it modeled after a brown face deluxe or something? and what's the advantage to having one of allen's hot fudge's rather then an original brown face amp?
