    Got my Doheny last Xmas.
Superb factory setup...best I've ever encountered...plecked and flawless.
Pups are nice...single coil-ish but with bite and growl.

I think they are great, but I'm a long-time lover of G&L MFD pickups. Pairing them with the bass and treble controls is fantastic. The dual fulcrum bridge is a very nice unit. That said, I don't really like the ergonomics of offset designs, so I passed.

My favorite shop too, but I haven’t been in there in years. In the ‘90s, I was still into pointy guitars and shopped there regularly. Couldn’t ask for better customer service.

I love G&L, have an ASAT Special which I play a lot, great all around guitar. I would love a Doheny, based on the looks and specs, but I have a J Mascis, the inexpensive P90 version of a JM, which I actually really like (after swapping in a Staytrem). Not as high quality as a G&L, but nothing to complain about either - and I love the pickups in it. If I ever get rid of that, I might go for something like the Doheny - I like having an offset around.

I have a Doheny and an SC-2, which has the same pickups as the ASAT Special. FWIW I like the Doheny pickups more. To me, they use the jumbo MFDs as a baseline and improve upon them. But I still like the SC-2 and play both quite a bit. You could always try out a Tribute Doheny, compare it to the Mascis and sell whichever one you prefer less. I only recommend this because you're already a fan of the MFDs.

They should just do these guitars with a Mastery Bridge and call it a day.

Hello All, I bought one of the Doheny Tributes and am digging it. I like a wider neck so I took a neck off of my Superhawk and it did not fit. My Doheny has a Fender compatible neck pocket so I took a Warmoth Strat quartersawn neck with a 1 3/4" nut and it fit like a dream. Intonation was spot on and now I have 22 frets! So happy with it.

That is good to know. The skinny neck has kept me from considering one of those. I didn't think G&L neck pockets would have standard, even on the tributes.

    Nah, self-censorship.

Doing my little bit to make TGP a cleaner, safer, more nicee-nice, family-friendly place.
