lots of TGP love for the Rival Sons. I keep them on pretty steady rotation in my car stereo. The guitar player wanted to (jokingly) fight me after I posted that they there were an "unfunny 70's version of Steel Panther".
i meant it in the best possible way.

haha, well it was in the context of a thread about their nostalgia factor, which is pretty undeniable. I'm a huge fan of their music and they are writing great original stuff, but at least with the first couple albums, they went out of their way to get a throwback sound.
    which was awesome.

I, perhaps, would have gone farther and noted the direct mapping of "current riff" to "old Zep riff" in a far-too-many number of their songs.

But as you say, I don't care. And they have evolved beyond that.

Hopefully you can get close when you. They really ooze soul.
I was fortunate enough to see them at the Stone Pony which is a small club. It was like they were in my living room. But with a wall of Orange amps.

I'm an old time Jersey Boy, saw may good shows there, Bruce in 1974,

Last show I saw there was Gaslight Anthem...

Noticed in the vids there is much love for the Orange amps.

I'm planning on seeing this summer when they come through town on the Monster Energy Drink tour. They're playing with Royal Thunder and Halestrom - 2 bands I know nothing about, I'm going to see Rival Sons. The show does seem like an odd pairing for them.

I saw them when they came through the DC area in October.

Great show. I'd definitely go see them again.

I've seen them twice. Blew the roof off both times. As good as thier records are they just explode on stage. A lot of that energy comes from Jay. He has charisma.

When we were talking backstage after their Detroit-area show last summer, he told me that he doesn't consider himself to be a performer, just a songwriter. I wanted to slap him lol.
