As a teenager in Salina Kansas I remember sitting in cars and listening to Beaker Street on the weekend during the late 60's. They (Clyde?) played a bunch of underground (for me) music with all the super-cool Hippy trimmings.......

They broadcast from Little Rock, AR.

KAAY Little Rock

Yes indeed. And after the music show was Beaker Theater which ran old 40s radio shows.

Oh yeah -- Clyde Clifford from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. I started listening to it in junior high in northeast Oklahoma; didn't get a lot of sleep in high school, either. Remember "Ballad of the U.S.S. Titanic?" Beaker Theater was great, too. I recall an adaptation of Isaac Asimov's short story "Nightfall" that was fantastic.

My wife grew up in Kansas City and listened to Beaker Street as a teenager, too. "Beaker Street" provided the soundtrack to a lot of parties all over the Midwest!

Listened on my little am radio, I'd take it to bed with me when I was Like 9-10 years old. Loved Beaker Street and yes I remember the Titanic song.

if i remember correctly, we wouldn't be able to pick it up till the radio station turned the antenna at a certain time....it went from static to strong in a three or four second sweep of time.....:bow it was cosmic to hear the station tune itself in..:bong then the party was on..

Those are some I remember too. I grew up in Chicago, but we spent summers up at a cabin in Wisconsin, on Lake Superior...I couldn't bring in the station every night, but a lot of nights I could, outside, aiming the antennae. I feel sorry kids today never get that kind of expreience...there is something magical about it, understanding you are picking up radio waves that are bouncing between the earth and clouds..

I remember, if the Titatinc was also the one with the sailor bringing a ton of rop on the ship, and the captain asking what's that for (smoking!) ?

Also "Two Hangmen", lot of Arlo, lots of interesting music.

I seem to recall just after that or around then FM got cool as hell too, near Chicago.

I lived in Little Rock in the early 70's. Used to listen to Beaker Street on a little AM tucked under the pillow so the folks wouldn't hear. Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, etc.... it was strong motivation to pick up the guitar!
