Any other Fret King users?

About a year ago I picked up a fret king country squire yardbird (the best trade of my life). It's part of Trev Wilkinson's green label fret king line up. Anyhow, just wondering if there are any other players here who use them. Everyone who has played it has marveled at it's craftsmanship (and I'm talking about people with expensive taste...Elliott owners, etc.).

Would this guitar be a tribute to that Franken-tele that Jeff Beck played when he was a Yardbird?? Love to see it, even if it ain't!!

A good few years ago, Trevor sent me a prototype of the model. Had the shave contour, (but 2 pickups). It did not have the BIG neck of, (I understand) some production models though. I A/B'd it with my early Fender CS Nocaster and they were close in sound/playability. Kept the Fender though as it was lighter in weight.

I once owned an Esprit 3 that I truly wanted to love...it sounded really good, had a fast neck, and looked great. (Kind of a Firebird/Jazzmaster hybrid, with three P-90s.)

But it would NOT stay in tune. I changed the machine heads and monkeyed around with the saddles, but finally decided the neck itself was unstable and sold it. Too bad.

A friend has an Esprit 5—the same guitar with two humbuckers—and loves it.

Any chance it was the nut? That's usually the cause.
