Anybody ever consider a new pedal because of board layout?

You know exactly what I mean, you TGP sluts! :p

I’m using pre-fab cables, with no way to customize. My optimal layout is proving difficult, but if I add a pedal with side jacks right after my tuner, it will fit perfectly. I’m thinking a compressor will be perfect.

Don’t pretend that you haven’t thought this. Confess now, and all will be forgiven ;)

Yep... I seem to have too many big boxed pedals. I tried to find some singles but they didn't fit the layout.
Now I'm going to have to build a second board ha!

I make my own custom length patch cables but that issue used to be a concern for me.

I’d just buy some longer patch cables

Actually, I don't even need that reason/excuse. I'll just buy, although I have not bought a pedal this year.

Slightly OT. One time I bought a vintage set of humbucking PUs because it was a sweet deal. But I didn't have a guitar that I wanted to install them in. So, I bought a mule guitar to just try the PUs. That's how the sickness works.

This is EXACTLY the situation Ive struggled with over the past 18 months or so.

I did use a Warwick 3.1 board (see photo), but finally gave up on the restrictions a few months ago.

Im not entirely free (how can you be ?), but have now switched to a Schmidt Array board. Less restrictions and im now buying pedals again that suit me, not my board !

Totally, but I'm sure you'll find some other perfectly good reason to swap out your X for an X. It's fair to say things like that, as well as overall sound and features, are things I consider when I buy pedals.

It's a tool and it's got to work with my other tools!

Guilty, I have an empty space in my one and think the all time: "what could I get..?".
But I'm so happy with the sound that I really don't know... :(:D

I got a MXR Timmy to address this conundrum. The regular V2 Timmy is not necessarily bulky, but it does have side jacks plus a 9v hookup on top.

The mini Timmy does the trick. The problem is, now I want two!

    Back to the drawing board.

Yes. I have a spot on my big board now that has a vertical pedal that I think should be a horizontal pedal, so I bought one that may be a fit.

I bought my Walrus Fathoms because it was in the same enclosure as the EQD Plumes and it had top jacks (and a plate mode). I had one space left and it fit perfectly in that space. I was gonna put it where the Mr. Black reverb is on this pic....

An empty spot on my board is considered a win for me...

My most recent pedal purchase was a boss RC1 too swap in for my Boss RC30, as moving to a smaller pedal with side jacks worked better for the layout of my board.

Sure. Late last year my Kingsley pedals came in, one of which I intended to sell but didn’t/couldn’t.
Anyway, they became the dirt section of my board so I did rearrange everything and sold a bunch of pedals so I could just have the high quality basics. Top jacks is usually something I will buy a new or different pedal for.
