my friend just scored what we think is a 1964 EB 2 bass....but we are very unfamilliar w/ these. does anybody have pics/experiences w/ them

it has this funky thing w/ a felt pad that you can put against the strings? i have not personally seen the guitar yet, but my friend says it was very minty...still glossy...little checking...and it is a metallic red color!!

it has a flower pot inlay on the head.

i will try to post pics tomorrow...this could be a real closet treasure find!!!

    thanks

Why yes...yes I do. Mine is a '67 EB-2C and it does that "Dark Cloud" thing that they do so well. Some people call them muddy but they are hard to beat for filling in the bottom end of old school R&R and Blues. I still have the string mute but removed it as I never use it.

Its not a toggle. Its a pushbutton baratone switch. No toggle on this one as it is a single humbucker model.

    Cool bass!!!

I always wanted one of those...they just had a different sound to them that I always liked. Lots of Britt rock from the 60's used those or the Epi version to great effect. Cool score, killer color and it's clean enough to eat off of!!!
