About 5 years ago I started getting this burning sensation on the bottoms of my feet. It felt like I was standing on hot roofing shingles. Pins and needles with heat is close to the feeling. I wasn't sure what to do so naturally went to the foot dr. I purchased some custom orthotics which didn't help at all. He didn't know what was wrong. Through a number of other dr visits I ended up at a nerve dr which tested the nerves in my legs and all seemed normal at least as far as that test was concerned. He put me on Lyrica for a while which seemed to help take the edge off the pain.

I had a period of time when it was going ok (even off the Lyrica) but I just went on vacation and we did a lot of walking and the pain was excruciating. We would leave the hotel early in the morning and not come back until late. It was walking and standing all day long for nearly two weeks. I was miserable. As soon as I got home I tried to make an appointment with someone who specializes in neuropathy but I can't see him until Oct! WTF?? I may have to find someone else.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has it and what they did to help ease the pain.

^^ Neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes, go to an MD and get checked out.

Sorry, I have had yearly physicals for the last 10 years, blood sugar is fine. I just went to see my GP and circulation was good and he put my me on Super vitamin B too.

I have the opposite. I've had numbness in parts of one foot for several years now. I have no symptoms of diabetes, but I do have some scoliosis and spondylitis in my spine that causes it.

This is a good article that discusses peripheral neuropathy (causes and treatments): http://www.healthline.com/health/peripheral-neuropathy#Causes3

Hope it helps, but you probably need to find out what's causing it so that the correct treatment can be given. Sounds like a complete work-up by a neurologist might be in order.

What you're describing sounds like vascular disease. I have the same issues related to a motorcycle accident a few years ago. See a vascular specialist. I really doubt your GP could diagnose this correctly without an MRI and dye
