Dave Grohl uses a Gibson Trini Lopez as his main guitar...gibson just recently came out with his signature model which is based on that exact guitar.

I have one of the early (like within a couple of months) of the first ES335 "Dot" fiddles.

I use it to play hard rock
    it sounds fantastic.

I have also used a Tennesean to play some pretty hard math-metal.

    thin lines can totaly rock.

ES-335 w/ Classic 57's ... it'll do hard rock, blues, classic rock, country. Great controllable feedback too.

I know it's a full hollow, but what the heck:

Heritage H-575 with the stock schaller buckers (actually sounds really great!)

Epiphone Dot, put in a pair of Duncan '59's, some heavy strings tuned (low to high) CGCGCC and did an entire metal recording with it. Sounded fantastic.

The Gibson ES-339 with 57's is a rock machine.
