Anyone compared the Mad Professor Mellow Yellow Tremolo to the Fulltone Supa-Trem?

I've been on a search for a cool tremolo for a while now & I was wandering if any of you have tried the MP Mellow Yellow Tremolo to the Fulltone Supa-Trem?

I'm aware the MP MYT is sine wave & the Fulltone Supa-Trem a optical triangle trem. So I'm aware the tone in trem will be different BUT was wandering what you guys thought of both these models?

I've also thought about the Monster Effects Swamp Thang too, as that was the first tremolo I ever bought & really liked that one BUT having recently bought a MP Sweet Honey Overdrive & MP Little Green Wonder I was so impressed with both dirt pedals I thought the MP Mellow Yellow Tremolo if it matches the quality of the other two then I'd be more than happy with it!!

I think I kinda prefer the sine wave over the triangle wave as I prefer the more vintage tone the Sine wave brings, but have tried a few Sine wave trems that were good but I prefer the trem to get abit choppy with out going too extreme, & the ones I tried were a bit timid.

I've done a search for the MP mellow yellow & there is not much info. about it maybe because it's pricey for a pedal that doesn't have many features but it's the vintage tone with some choppy like tones that I'm after!!

Your thoughts as always guys would be much appreciated :aok!!

I have tried dozens of tremolos, it is one of my favorite effects...My favorite, by far, is the Dr. Scientist Tremolessence. Just magical, does a bit of everything, and all very well.....

Oh yeah I forgot about the Dr Scientist Tremolessence, that also sounds really cool indeed BUT that one seems to be always hard to get hold of, there's probably a reason for that......!!

So true. I have 4 of Dr. Sci's pedals and the Trem took me FOREVER to get. I looked for 6 weeks for a used one, finally decided to buy new, and no one in North America had one...So I contacted Ryan at Dr. Scientist and he let me know who would be the next of his dealers to get some, and I contacted them, and reserved it..

Ryan is bar none the best customer service pedal maker in the game. I can not say enough about his care and appreciation for customers..

I liked the Dr. Scientist too, but I prefer my Empress over it, got it used for a good price too. I haven't used the two mentioned, but the Fulltone is surprisingly large in size, and at least used, is about half the price of the MP too.

I've actually tried the Empress trem & thought it was good but have preferred a few over it. I have to admit I have once owned the Fulltone Supa-trem & was impressed with that one & so could very well see me buying another!!

BUT having never played the MP MYT or the Dr Scientist Tremolessence I guess I am leaning slightly more to one of those or the Swamp Thang!!

Does the Tremolessence have that vintage vibe to it?
As I'm looking for a trem for cool Rock 'n' roll & surf like music.

Has anyone tried the MP MYT who would like to chime in, as I'm very intrigued with this pedal but have not read many comments on this one!!

I too have a weakness for Trems. My fav effect! I have a Frantone Vibutron that is pretty nice and I was the lucky guy that snapped up that Dr. Sci Tremolessence here on the forum yesterday, so I can't wait to try it. I also just picked up a Matchless TV-1 on ebay at a decent price. I was looking on the site of Pro Guitar Shop and found the Effectrode Delta-Trem Tremolo Pedal. That along with the Vibe pedal look pretty cool.

Sorry to hijack the post with other products than you mentioned. Good luck in the search.

Like you I'm a big tremolo effect fan & have tried quite a few of the ones that you have mentioned.

Effectrode Delta-Trem - Fantastic warm tremolo but for my taste couldn't get choppy enough for me (I'm not looking for fast choppy but more than this!!).

Frantone Vibutron - I was actually never really a fan of this pedal it didn't do any thing for me!!

Demeter Tremulator - Quite nice from what i remember.

Fulltone Supa-trem - Very impressed with this one, thought it was very amp like & more than enough speed for me, at times I just thought it missed that vintage vibe which I think what a Sine wave brings!!

Empress Tremolo - Quite nice again, but not thrilled with it.

Mojo Hand Sugar Baby - Nice & easy tremolo had no real complaints with this unit.

Tone Freak Effects Mello Tremo - This is the pedal I currently own has that vintage vibe & don't have that many complaints apart from maybe doesn't quite get choppy enough for me!!

Monster Effects Swamp Thang - Probably my favorite tremolo pedal I have played as had the best vintage vibe that I can remember BUT have to say haven't played one for quite a while!!

Never played the MP MYT or Dr Scientist Trem & are very intrigued with both!!

Just want to bump this thread as I'm wanting to hear those who have tried the MP Mellow Yellow tremolo!!

I've got it down to two, I'm either going to purchase the MP Mellow Yellow Tremolo or the Monster Effects Swamp Thang!!

Also if anyone has compared both these trems I'd love to hear your thoughts!!

Thanks

Matt

I have the MYT and sold the Fulltone to get it. Man naot even close the MYT blows it away. Sounds so smooth and full and half the footprint of the Fulltone.
My 2 cents

Cool. I just picked up one in the emporium last night. I can't wait to a/b it with my Vibutron and Empress. I'm totally happy with those two, but I just had to try the MP to cure my curiosity.

i owned both at the same time and are sonically different enough for one to have a preference. musically the sweep and speeds of the fulltone are going to cover more objectives. it's like a blackface amp tremolo in a box, with an expanded range of speeds and extra pulses. the pedal layout is too large and not very intuitive, especially if you're seeking a more simplified/traditional knob arrangement and compact size pedal. the supa-trem sounds fantastic and many things i disliked about it have been addressed in fulltone's new version - which looks like a winner.

BUT, the mellow yellow is by far a more tame and simplified/specialized tremolo pedal. i personally like simple arrangements. i like the compact size and the volume knob on the top, which was {oddly} always left off the supa-tremolo. and i prefer the sine of the MYT because i think it's much more musical and 3D sounding. there's this old sound in that pedal that really pumps like a brownface tremolo...

so, for me, between the TWO, i liked the mellow yellow versus the supa, but not a landslide. fulltone makes a fine tremolo. supa curious about the new version.

also, the best tremolo pedal might just be the strymon flint; that pedal sounds gorgeous.
