I love this little thing so much I am debating going down to a single amp. For the stuff I play (alt country, Black Crowes,, etc), it sounds great! I'd love to have another AC30 and Marshall someday, but I don't feel like I need one right now.

If you can get by with one amp and aren't using the others, sell them.

Try taking your other amps to a friends house and leave them for a few weeks. If you miss them, keep them. If you don't, sell them.

Umm, and you can leave that Clubman at my house as long as you want!

    :drool

    I'll even support it's EL34 habit.

PS -- Can you get the grind out of an AST to play stuff like "Hard to Handle"?

I have a BUNCH of amps, but the AST is the one I am playing the most often by far.

What's the clean head room like on this amp? Boy, I'd love to buy the super space tone, but it's a little pricey. But that is the coolest looking amp I've ever seen.

But what about AST? Clean head room? I've tone is Tweed, but would you say better than a Clark or Victoria? Different? Thanks

The Swart AST is the only amp I own. Sold my Mesa Boogie and have not looked back.

I really have taken a liking to it... The cleans are magical and when you turn it up it kicks out the heavy jams!

They are pretty much magic little boxes...wait until you get your hands on a Super Space Tone head.... Imagine a whole lot more of the AST magic, quite a bit more grind available if you need it, quite a bit more clean headroom as well. Of course it's not as portable a package as the AST, and the AST is bar none one of the coolest looking amps ever built.

The Swart 1/2 stack was with his pedal was one of the amps at last year`s LA Amp fest that impressed me a lot.

Granted, a lot of amps were wonderful but the Swart almost had me reaching for my wallet.

Do you mean there is a new SST coming from Swart or that you are working on getting one? If the former then it sounds really cool and if the latter then congrats!!

I'm going to guess he meant a new AST head...I talked w/ Swart a couple of weeks ago about my SST - no plans for any changes on the Super Space Tone but he is going to re-release an Atomic Space Tone head that is much more updated - multi ohm speaker taps and wouldn't be suprised to see the low / high voice switch added as well...will be very cool, but will still only be a pair of 6v6's vs. the 4 in the SST.

Ah yes, you're probably right. Wonder when the "reissue" AST head is coming. Swart's site hasn't been updated in over a month.

My SST continues to surprise me. I got the best clean, chimey funk tone I ever heard at Saturday's jam. With a Les Paul! Even my friend who hosts the jam commented on it, and he's a monster player who had gigged for years. This amp ain't going nowhere! :dude

No, I meant a new SST. Hopefully it'll be posted soon on the Swart page.

I have an AST head from the first limited run he did awhile back. It's very, very cool indeed.
I've had lots of fun playing it through all kinds of different cabs. You should hear it through a
Marshall 4x12! :D I just ordered the matching 2x12 cab from Swart, however. It'll have Green-
backs in it, I like those best with the AST overall. I play different styles though. Everything
from Country to Metal to Seventies Rock. So I don't think I'll get rid of my SLO or my Aikens
(Sabre on the way!), but the AST will always have a special spot in my room.
