I didnt want to bust in on the vintage 30 thread so I started my own.

I have to admit Im mildy curious about other speakers, but since I got the CR, I really feel it cannot be improved upon.

Other speakers Ive owned were EV in my boogie, Fender special design (imho not that great), Celestion 75 watters (I forget the model) and a ragin cajun.

Of all those I prefer the CR by a lot.

    I've had a pair for around 10 years I think .. I like them a lot .

    I also have
V30s, EV12Ls, Newer and older Fanes, Celestion Golds, Greenbacks, Lead 80s, Emi Tonkers.etc.
All great speakers at what they do, yeah ..
It's all about application and personal tastes among other things.

Yes great speaker. I have one paired with a Vintage 30 in my 67 Bassman rig and love the tone.

I had one in my heavily modified Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue for a number of years but replaced it a few weeks ago with a Celestion G12H-75 Creamback which I like much better. Tighter bass with smoother mids and highs.

Love the C-Rex in my 1975 SFDR. It reigned it the high end and the low end stays together well at higher volumes.

YESSIR! I have 3-4 Cannabis Rexes in use, and have had them since they were 1st released.. LOVE them, but also have many other types of speakers in use. . I mix /match to the amps. . Have way too many amps and cabs, and it gets interesting :) Eric

Yes, an excellent speaker. I've had them in several amps, the latest being the Gries 20, which is very much in the DR zone. Just pickup up an alnico weber california, and will try it in that amp. Not cause I'm missing anything. More a case of curiosity, to see if a different character speaker will bring out something different in that amp.

Me too. Love them. I also have a Canis Major (alnico version) that I'm going to pair up with my '67 Princeton Reverb in a slightly larger cabinet. I think some of the CR hate comes from folks who don't give them time to break in. Those hemp cones wear like iron and need to be trone a beatin' in order to give up the goods...

I put one in a Brown Deluxe. It replaced an Alnico Gold which always seemed to have a harsh upper-mid thing happening to me. I like it but it might smooth things out a bit too much. I am missing highs/sparkle a bit. Will some more break it time let the high end bloom a bit more? Or perhaps I just need to get used to it.

Yeah, play it as loud as you can as often as you can. It will be similar to the Gold when they break in (not tone wise, but more about the tone changes when it is broken in). You'll know it when it happens.

Hemp cones take about 40 hours to break in. I run a loud, dynamic CD at pretty good volume for them for at least 40 hours when I get them.

One of only a few speakers I use; CR, EV12L, Jensen Jet Tornado.

Great sounding speaker. Had a 4 hole JMP going into a 2x12 with a cannabis rex and redcoat mix. Sounded awesome.

It's a fantastic speaker in many different amps. I like it best when the amp tends to be on the bright side; it attenuates the real high end in a really great way.

I have one in my 1x12 pro junior. I think it sounds great in there, as well a couple of other amps I have tried it with. I was thinking about picking up another one and finding a speaker to pair with it for my classic 50 head.

Great for taming the top end of overly bright amps.
Full low end and near alnico top end smoothness after hard break-in.
At low volumes does not flub out, but at high volumes, low end can get a bit boomy, especially neck position power chords.
At the same time it will fatten up single note lead work.

It will totally transform some amps for the better, but the high efficiency will also make your amp considerably louder in many cases where you're coming off a lower efficiency driver.
