I'm pretty excited that Ryan of Dr.Scientist has designed what's basically the Ultimate Cosmichorus. :bow

Ryan said:
features of the Cosmichorus v3:

  • *Fully analog BBD chorus using MN3007 chips
*Controls include MIX (fully dry to fully wet, fully wet is true pitch vibrato), LEVEL (adjusts the wet signal level, dry signal is fixed at unity), TREBLE (active eq control to cut or boost the treble content of the wet signal), CLOCK (adjusts the intensity of the effect by increasing the delay time), RATE (huge range of rate smoothly distributed on one knob turn), HOLD (adjusts the rise/fall time of the chorus signal when in Hold mode)
*Stereo in and out (using TRS jacks) with two identical but separate Cosmichorus circuits, can also do mono in stereo out
*Soft touch switching with true bypass using relays
*3 different clock range toggle-switch settings for 3 different intensities of chorus effect, further controlled with the Clock knob
*Hold Mode toggle-switch lets you engage the chorus effect by holding down the stomp switch, fades out when you release the stomp (with the Hold knob at min the effects starts and stops instantly, at maximum the effect takes a few seconds to fully fade in when the stomp is pressed and a few seconds to fully fade out when the stomp is released)
*Phase inversion toggle puts the wet signal either in-phase or out-of-phase with the dry signal. In mono this changes the character of the mixed sound, in stereo it changes the width of the stereo spread between the amps
*Expression pedal input for controlling the rate
*Rate knob is clear with LED underneath that flashes with rate of effect (looks cool, man)
*CV input for controlling the chorus effect, can also be used with expression pedal for manually sweeping the effect

Check out this video for a quick sampling of all the features in stereo:

I was keen for this, but I love what my RedWitch Empress does.
I really wish someone would do a chorus with a 2nd stomp for vibrato, that would rule supreme.

I haven't pre-ordered since I've bought way too many pedals recently but there's definitely one in my future.

I recently built a pedalboard for a TGP member w/ a spot for the CC v3 on the board. It's wired and ready to go, including the expression pedal cable and interface for the TRS cables for the CC v3 and the Dc Scientist Tromolescence. Just waiting for Ryan to release the CC v3 to the market.

Ryan's already put 9 prototypes into this pedal before releasing it. I think part of the reason for doing this pre-sale is to fund a large production of PCB's. The setup costs for manufacturing them is probably quite high and he's probably ordering quite a few to bring the costs down for customers.

you can see in this thread that he's been working on an ULTIMATE design since May 2011. I think for Dr.Scientist this is a huge investment - they're getting it right the first time!

I just noticed he posted this directly about what you said:
I've gone really far to make sure that doesn't happen with this release.. that's why it took me a year and 9 prototypes to be ready... it's perfect and I don't plan on changing a thing. There's no quirks or idiosyncrasies either, other than the usual analog bbd things.. the rate knob is perfect, the box is grounded, no surprises, no desperate last minute updates or mods! *knocks on head*

Maybe it's just the buffers he puts in his pedals, but everything he makes always sounds great with my setups, miles better then other stuff -- ALL the time.
