I haven't bought tubes there, but have had good experiences with the following vendors,

    Mike at:

    http://www.kcanostubes.com/

    Doug at:

    http://www.dougstubes.com/

    Bob at:

    http://www.eurotubes.com/index.htm

and have heard good things about Lord Valve too, though you need to get on his mailing list as there isn't too much information on his site,

    http://www.nebsnow.com/LordValve

And is you are looking for an interesting site with a wealth of information as it relates to tubes and amps, the following is a must read Myle's site at,

    http://www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/

    Enjoy.

He's into animal rescue, so you should give him a shot.

Yes, I've bought tubes from Mike. He's a totally straight-up guy and pretty knowedgeable. From what I gather, he's another "one man show."

Although pricey, KCA is the bomb. Mike has an outsanding product everytime.

When I have a special amp that I want to tube with special, well matched tubes, he's the guy. My 1969 Uncle Spot blackfaced Twin is adorned with some near perfectly matched JAN Philips 7581's from Mike.

A bump for this question, anyone ever bought tubes from vacuumtubes.com?

Before everyone recommends Mike @ KCA, I already contacted him and doesn't have what I'm looking for.

    Love ya Reek!:p

Pricey? Maybe you haven't compared prices on all of my items with the same items carried by others (which are often out of stock at the other places). Check out prices at Vacuum Tube Valley for instance;)

To some customers, being able to talk to or email the OWNER of the company (AND get a quick response!) who's a guitar player, amp tech and Electrical Engineer and can make recommendations based on technical requirements, is worth an extra $1 per tube. To others, I guess it's not important.

And speaking of technical information which many people miss on my website http://www.kcanostubes.com/content/newsletter_list.asp?Category=Resources

I've bought preamp tubes from Michael/SND. He hasn't the warmest rapport, but the tubes were good. All I really need from a tube seller is to reliably deliver product, so he's been fine in that regard (I have friends from whom I can get the warm rapport).

Thanks Thom! I was a little worried about his rapport being a sign of sketchyness, I'm glad you had a good experience...

Mike, we talked a few days ago about ANOS KT66's...

No worries, you were awesome with my other questions and I bought some 12ax7's and a 5U4GB from you. Thanks again!

In other news I just figured out my question was about vacuumtube.com not vacuumtubes.com, so I opened a new topic in the amp forum.

Mike, it seems like you recommend vacuumtube.com for their tube testers so they are probably on the up and up, yes?

I think they're fine (should be when you consider their prices). I'll add that I've heard complaints about EVERYONE in this business (and had some of my own complaints too, as I've bought stuff from almost everyone). I'm sure there have been complaints about me too. It's the nature of retail business, the human condition, and tubes in general.

Thanks. At least I know they probably have good testing equipment :)

That's pretty safe to say. The tester they make/sell is for preamp tubes (only) though.

He has been around a pretty long time. Was a very common poster over at www.DIYaudio.com

A lot of guys over there know him, he has fair prices, Generally has a good inventory and he is also into guitar stuff. Thats a local guy in my area btw.
