Anyone ever mixed a V30 and a Greenback?

    I currently have a V30 and a G12H30 in my avatar closed back 2x12.

Anyone tried a GB with a V30 in a 2x12? If so any thoughts?

It's a good mix, I've used it. The GB fattens the mids of the V30.

Yes. I've had two Avatar Contemporary 212s with this combination X pattern for two years. Greenback fattens the tone. V30 adds definition.

Suggestion -- get the Hellatone 60 because that V30 takes forever to break in.

I've already got a V30 in my Avatar 2x12 that's several years old and broken in.

I'm thinking of selling the G12H30 that it's paried with and getting a Greenback (or clone) to replace it with.

I have a Carvin Legacy 2x12 with a V30 & a Green Back. It fills in the midrange to my ears. I like it a lot.

I have an Avatar 212 with a Hellatone 60 and Greenback and I definitely like it. I'm still working on getting the GB broken-in.

The Framus "Ruby Riot" combo was the first to offer those disimilar 12's as standard issue.

I always envisioned this as the perfect match, minus the fact that everyone always says how much the V30 overpowers the greenback. Do you guys find this to be true? Is there a better solution to work with the V30 if you're concerned with matching the sensitivity, but keeping the greenback sound? I have 2 G12H30's, which are nice, but would be open to considering other options right now.

V30's are said to be great with H30's. The db/wattage thing seems to balance out in tonal variance.

I've tried this and I thought the V30 overpowered it somewhat, but the GB does fatten it up. There's a manufacturer that recommends staying within 2db rating @ 1 watt (Eminence I think) when pairing up speakers, and I'm pretty sure this goes well outside that recommendation, but it's all good if you like it. It will certainly favor the V30.
