I'm keen to try. One with gain all the way down. The next... wherever.
I've stacked two SD-1s, not exactly what you were asking, but it sounded great, syrupy smooth.
Heh. I guess not.
That's a hell of an idea. I have one but never thought of that.
I just put my OD-3 back on my 'board. Send me yours and I will try it, HA!
i have an od-3 for low drive/boost into an sd-1 with higher gain. or sometimes its an od1 into an sd-1. that od3 is the best for boost/low/med gain drive because of its bass IMHO
stacking OD's is actually quite common... maybe not 2 OD-3's specifically but I have stacked heaps of different combinations and they usually work. This includes running an SD-1 into a MIAB and a Wrampler Triple Wreck.
Treat the first as a boost and the second as a gain channel into a clean amp.
...there are no rules, only subjective opinions!
yes I have. I was so blown away by how some pedals do awesome in front of an OD-3, I wanted to see what happens when you stack the OD-3 with another OD-3. It was a little disappointing IMO two OD-3s does't sound very far off from just having a single OD-3 with higher "drive" settings. YMMV. The real treat is OD-2R --> OD-3.
Ha, ha. I figured someone had tried it. I might still try it some time, but I have a feeling it won't be a good stack. Seems like it might turn the smooth into way too smooth, or mush, or something.
Never had the chance but would. Love my OD-3.
I have an MXR SBAD in front of it and it sounds awesome.
I've stacked pretty much much every OD or distortion I've gotten my hands on with the OD-3. Rarely did I not like the results.
I recently snagged a 2nd SBAD so tomorrow I'll see how 2 of those stack.
I'll probably end up with SBAD-OD3-SBAD.
