I was wondering if anyone has tried or owns a Kustom The Defender. I'm looking for a cheap all tube amp that has great cleans at gigging levels and works well with pedals. I wanted to know if this amp would fit the bill. For OD I have a Barber Direct Drive but usable amp drive would be a plus in case something happens to the pedal. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    BK

ive tried it, its actually swallows pedals. Not a bad amp for the coin. The stock speaker is pretty awful though, i always ran it into a cab.

yes, it takes pedals very very well, its a really clean amp, doesnt break up much at all and has very little compression

Cool, that's kinda what I was looking for. Is the drive usable?

I own a '36 Coupe and a '72 Hardtop. I've used the Defender to demo guitars, at music stores. Although I like the Coupes better, the Defender sounds very good. It's nice small and light. For an amp with EL34's, it really does sound like a Fender, only with better overdrive. But I agree about the speaker. Almost any after market speaker, will sound better.

Oh, I've got one more question. Are the cleans on this amp really bright?
