The thread about brass nuts and bridge saddles had me wondering...

PRS uses cast, brass saddles on their trems.

But what about substituting Fender style, bent steel saddles? Would the tone change? And if so, how would it be altered?

Yep. I forget which ones, but i have callaham and fender with the same spacing or at least close enough to work. I didn't like the tone. It sounded plinky. I did it because the guitar was dark and i thought that would brighten it, and it did a bit but not in a good way.

I kind of suspected that might be the case.... With a guitar as expensive as a PRS, you would imagine they'd sweated the details pretty thoroughly, and choice of saddle design/construction, would be important.
