IIRC, he serves in the US Military or Reserves, and last I heard, he was in service overseas, in some capacity, in the War. Of course, it's been over a year since I checked up on him. He may have just gone under. After all, some of his stuff is looked upon as "cork sniffer" stuff, and a whole lot of people would rather just go to GC for the instant gratification. I'd imagine that it's hard to sell a pickup these days when everyone is trying to get the "best" PAF clone than something different.

I could be wrong, though. He might have just switched to a -.org or -.net account, or even MySpace, as it's free.

Steve Kersting is a Warrant Officer in the Guard - when I was a full-time technician for the Oregon Guard, I noticed his name on the global email list making him either a full-time technician or Active Guard Reserve soldier. Three years ago, I emailed him through the system to say hi just after I bought a set of pickups from him - he seemed quite busy then too. I retired in March of 2005.

The GWOT [Global War on Terror] makes his specialty an especially appealing one [he is a either a pilot or flight specialist]. Though his skill in making pickups deserves extra effort on the part of consumers, he is likely busy with pursuits that are being forced upon him at the moment...

Gosh. Well that pretty much puts my dream guitar idea on the shelf. Oh well. Living means learning to let go.

Got a reply from SK Guitars. It turns out that, as usual, I'm wrong. Being wrong is, after all, one of my strong points. Steve is trucking along just fine, but he is having website problems. You can contact him directly at:

    Steven Kersting
    P.O. Box 228 Ono, PA 17077-0228

He's still making his duotone pickups, and he is doing business. I know the feeling of website outages/problems, as does everyone here on TGP from time to time.

Hope he can fix you up with what you need.

    rooster.

Temporary Site outage. I've had to actually close that site and open a new one because the provider messed it up so bad. For now sk66.ipowerweb.com will get there until the url's are mapped again (ampge.com/ skguitar.com)
