Anyone make an 70s/80s MXR Distortion+?
it's about time mxr did an original script reissue with germanium parts & .........
See my DOD OD250/308 mod page, MXR script logo dist+ spec is an option.
Why not build your own. See: http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/m..._0/album17/album06/mxr_dist_plus_001.jpg.html
If you can get one from AnalogMan, do it Mikes stuff is the best!
I have a 1979 tan germainium Ross Distortion that I'd sell. Pretty much the same pedal as the Distortion+. I'm in Canada, so shipping would be fast and easy.
The BYOC 250+ can be built to early MXR Distortion+ specs, you can get a pre-built one here for $95 (on sale):
Q: Are there any sources for 1N270s? (I've heard 1N34s don't sound the same.) I have an original, so it's academic for me.
Small Bear Electronics
Oh yeah; these MXRs are a little quiet - especially with the spec diodes. Unity gain is only achieved about 3/4s of the way through the output pot's traverse. Replacing the 10K audio output pot with a 100K audio pot can give you a bit more volume.
