Thinking of beefing up an AC4TV with a nice AlNiCo 10" speaker and new tubes. Anyone have experience with a Weber Blue Pup or another viable speaker in the AC4?

Bump for interest. Thinking about picking one of these up but the Weber Blue Pup 8" I just got from Weber makes my Pathfinder pretty hard to beat.

If I get a ac4tv10 the first thing I would do is put a Weber Blue Pup in it. (Although I like the punch of the ceramic.)

It will not fit unless you move the chassis back. It will bump up against the PT.

i upgraded speaker to a Celestion G10 Vintage

amazing change of tone having a quality speaker in the combo

that and some good tubes will get you boutique tone range
see my other posts on this topic

i would have preferred the Gold 10 but sadly it would not fit in the combo

Yeah, been running my AC4TV head through a bigger Scumnico loaded cab...sounds really nice. I still need to swap tubes too...

Even if it fits, the particle board and closed-back construction of that combo cab will suffocate that speaker. Stick to a G12M-flavored speaker in that cab as they sound good in a closed-back application.

I run my AC4TVH through a Vox BN212 open-back cab that I upgraded with 2 British Celestion Blues (from the stock Wharfedales). Tung-Sol 12AX7 and JJ EL84. No complaints.

    good point Head+Cab
the Ac4tv combo already has 4 ported inlets around the speaker front for air,
i've tried with the back completely off, really brightened up the speaker alot too much for my taste, might be ok it you want that in you bed room but for a small gig you'll need the back on to project the sound,
i might put a 2"x6" slot in the back middle as that seems about right with the testing i've been doing, again this is all personal tone preference
    cheers

wow, it must be AC4TV/Alnico speaker day. My second post on the subject today.I have a Celestion gold 10" in my AC4TV. it's a tight fit but it fits. getting the back of the amp (w/chassis) on and off of the cabinet is the hardest part of the swap to me. the back is very tight in the cabinet. I just started trying out different tubes and my amp decided to quit working for me :(
