I'm thinking about p90/s/p90 in an old Am Dlx.....will it work? String-spacings, etc?
Pete Townshend put them in a Clapton Strat.
Rondo Guitars makes a model with P90s for a whoppin' $109.
So yeah, it's been done.
It is also discussed at some length over on that other gear forum.
Thanks. They seemed to be divided as to whether or not it was a good thing. My only experience of them has been with a Reverend Slingshot, so I'm wondering what they'd sound like in an alder solidbody.
My try 2 HB sized p90's...maybe HD Z90's?
The Rio Grande Dirty Harry is a single coil Strat pickup wound to sound like a P90. I've got a couple in a Fender Highway One HSS Strat and they are indeed thick, ballsy and awesome.
You'll be fine on the string spacing, even though most P90's are of standard spacing, because the poles are in the middle of the pickup you won't get too much string overhang from the 53mm spacing bridge.
I love the sound of the P90 in any guitar, so I have a strat with three of them in there!
check out a Reverend Jetstream 390
Yes, please post a pic or 2 and if you don't mid explain just a tad about how you went about doing it...I'd love to do a 3 P-90 Strat for my father.
I just ordered their $129 model with P90s. Can't wait for it to get here
Like this, maybe?
Would a high-output sc work in the middle? Would mean no routing for it.
Paul - Vintage Vibe SP90s are the no routing solution to the problem - great pickups! They won't make a Strat sound like an LP Jr but they have their own very unique, gutsy, blues/rock vibe
vintage vibe also sells HB sized p90s
curious on this to, is it bright sounding?
