The A section goes something like this:

    |: Em9 / / / | A13 / / / | Dm9 / / / | G13 / / / | Am7 / D9 / | Abm7 / Db9 / | Cmaj9 / F9 / | Em9 / A13 :|

The second time through, the last two bars go like this:

    |Cmaj9 / / / | C69 / / / |

And the first bar of the B section begins on Fmaj7, but I can't remember the rest!

I've been playing this for 20 years. It's something I read once in some jazz chart (maybe an instruction book?) and I've always wanted to figure out what it is and re-learn the B section!

With all the knowledge around here I'm sure someone can name the song!

I've wondered if it might be a derivation of Satin Doll since it is very similar; that makes me wonder if it was from an instruction book.

looking at it, it kind of just moves in 4th's so it could sound like a lot of things, especially turnarounds.

I'll play it this evening, I usually have a pretty good "you know where I've heard that before?" sense.

Yes, the last four bars are Satin Doll

    | Am7 / D9 / | Abm7 / Db9 / | Cmaj9 / F9 / | Em9 / A13 :|

The first four bars of the progression are also Satin Doll, but backwards. But it's just moving in fourth and could be a number of things. If you play the b5 subs for the first four bars you get the chromatic chord move in Bluesette, Autumn Leaves, etc...ala

    | Em9 | Eb9 | Dm9 | Db7 | Cmaj7 |...

So, it's like two turnarounds in one song :) The first bars are the turnaround from Autumn Leaves/Bluesette and the last four are the turnaround for Satin Doll.

Back to back turnarounds...YOU COULD PLAY OUTSIDE FOR 8 FULL BARS!!! :)
