I've done it, and now use the Scumback versions in both my 2x12's. The M gives the mids the H is missing, and the H gives more crisp top, and better lows.

I use the combination in a 4x12 cab, 2 Hs on the bottom and 2 Ms on the top. Both Heritages. I love the tone!

Have you played the Guv'nor yet?

I think so. I have 2 Hs ready to put in another cab, just got to get 2 more Ms. I've never heard Scumbags. I like the resale aspect of Celestions should I decided to change.

Got the Scumback H and M's here too, but in 4x12's. Yep, mids from the M's, highs and lows from the H's.

I recently (at Big Mike's urging) put an H75 & M75 together in a 2x12 cab (closed). The midrange boost was pretty significant with that mix, although that's what an "M" style speaker is supposed to do.

Ultimately, how your amp projects mids, and how you set your amp's tone controls, along with your pickup choice and playing style, will flavor your findings a bit.

I have a G12M on top and a G12H on bottom in my Z-Best 2x12 and love it. Fantastic rock tones. That said, one of these days I'm going to try out some Scumbacks. But for the time being, I'm happy.

Dude I just love your handle!

I am using 1 scumbag G12H and one Celestion G12M (it was handy) in a '66 bassman cab. It is reitchous with my 18 watt and my two rocks. It is super duper reitchous with distorted tones. Neck pickup tones bring me to tears.

Thanks! Yeah, that combo helped me to discover the magic of the middle position on my 335 copy, especially with the bridge full on and the neck at about half volume.

Which speaker do you all mic? I mic the Greenback.

I generally mike the M as well. Seems to just love the mic. (Senheiser E609)
