    Hi there,
I have reached a point where I finally need to put my trusty old Imac G5 out to pasture.

I want to replace it with some type of all in one solution. I want to do simple home recording, play backing tracks, etc.

Portability is also a plus. The Microsoft Surface looks like it checks all the boxes on paper, but will it handle these tasks? Anyone using one?

I've used a Surface Pro to track my band through my Focusrite. No issues. Screen is a bit small vs a desktop but portability benefits will force a tradeoff.

When at a desk, You can add a big ass monitor... you aren't limited to the Surface screen the Surface will happily run multiple monitors.
