I dig my Crunchbox, but it's a little on the heavy side for what I do. Is there a unit that dose a better early Van Halen tone?

You might also like to look at the Jetter Gain Stage Purple. I'm not sure if it's exactly the tone you're after, but it has less gain than the Crunch Box and is still very Marshally, great sounding pedal.

I just got an Habenero Boost by Bob Sweet. It doesn't have a bunch of gain but does have much more than most volume/od pedals. ei 808, RC etc.

MI Audio Blues Pro. Nothing fancy, not expensive, just sounds good.
Like a less aggressive CB,with less gain, but from the same 'family'.

    Maybe not for VH,tho.
